It may only be January, but this weekend's weather forecast looks great. Do something different and ride in the Gibraltar Hill Climb TT, promoted by the UCSB Triathlon team.

The hillclimb TT sounds like a great idea.
A great idea that is it if were held a few months down the road when riders are in the kind of shape that would allow them to put in a good (and healthy) performance. Doing that kind of extreme effort is a tough call in January and might not even be good for the riders unless they've been peaking for that type of effort.
I've always been mystified why it is that in California some of the best, toughest and most challenging types of road events are held when it's nearly impossible to put in your best ride.
Does sound fun though...
Hey this is California, we don't have an off season! When you're duck-taping wool socks and trashbags to your bike shoes and sporting ski goggles as you zip past sniper snow patches, then you have an off season.
Aw shucks!
I think I have to glue up my toobies.
Oh, wait...
Whether or not it's bad to go too hard in the off season is debatable. Personally, I would not be doing any 60-90 second anaerobic intervals right now, but a 30-40 minute effort isn't going to hurt. Well, other than during those 30-40 minutes!!
Anyway, this event is totally low key, and a fundraiser for the UCSB triathletes. Let's show them some love!
Hehe...I just noticed you "photoshopped" your new Platinum kit into your header pic. Nice.
I think you need to change the "About Me" pic too...
After some soul searching and some scale-stepping I decided I'm not in the climbing form or shape I'd want to be in to do an uphill TT right now, low-key or not. I'll probably just do the Echelon ride tommorrow and I have VineCross in SLO on Sunday...
