Another First

It's fun to remember your "Firsts"...

First bike, first kiss, first race, first grade,...

...First time you ever voted for a Presidential candidate younger than yourself!

Barely younger, but still...

I wonder if he also liked The Police, Tom Petty, and The Clash when he was in high school?

He's still my senior. But oh man, this first is going to happen soon.

Wait, maybe not. Barack gets elected and serves 8 years. So, I've got at least 8 years before it happens. Whew.

I can live with that too. It was a tough choice, but in the end, Barack inspires me a bit more.

I met a neighbor the other day who is also Canadian. She became a dual citizen after realizing she couldn't complain if she wasn't able to do anything about it. I'm on the fence for now, but can't do anything about it anyways. I have to be a resident for something like 10 years before applying. For now though, I still choose to complain. I hope after the New Age of Enlightenment, post 8 years of Democrat rule, with everyone smiling and healthy, or getting healthy for free, I won't feel the need to complain or rush to the immigration office, application in hand.

Do I detect a note of sarcasm in there??

Yeah The Police! Like...
"Poets, priests and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no one's jamming their transmission
De do do do, de da da da..."

Some of the best concerts I ever experienced! Maybe Barack was there too!!

There's always sarcasm Marco. Although sometimes I think everyone should vote Republican anyways and say, "You get us out of this mess". But perhaps things would absolutely go in the toilet of no return that way.

It seems to me the Dems are always fixing things. They curb spending from the "conservative" gov't that preceded them, bring a balanced budget and then boom. It's all spent and way worse than before. But maybe my 600 dollars will save the day. Oh wait, I'm not a moron and I'm not going to go spend it at the mall.

I should have preceded this by saying I am by no means an expert on economics or politics. So feel free everyone to poke holes in my theory. I don't care or know enough to back up my thoughts with facts.

However I do not have a sub prime mortgage, nor do I cash those 4000 dollar checks my credit card company keeps sending me thinking, "Wow! Free Money!" So maybe I'm doing something right.

Jake...you seem to be confusing the term "conservative" with the term "Republican". Especially in this day and age...they don't exactly "equate".

In fact, judging by what you've revealed of your own personal monetary policy, I'd argue that you yourself are actually a "fiscal conservative" ;-)

Jake-

Let me get this straight... our gov't is running a huge deficit wasting billions of dollars by occupying a country that doesn't want us there... and meanwhile over on another continent which doesn't have oil, people starving to death and dying from preventable, curable diseases... but our economy looks a bit shaky so the government decides to print more money (financed by China, et. al.) and send it to us citizens in the mere hope that we might spend enough to get this economy rolling again.

And that doesn't make sense to you?

See, I can do sarcasm too!

yeah I've enjoyed the going into Iraq under the guise of saving them and bringing democracy story. Were that true, for an infinitesimal fraction of the cost, millions could've been saved elsewhere. Folks eat it up though, the polls showed as much in '04. What was the phrase two years ago? Mission Accomplished?

Certainly terrorists know that they will not likely bring down a country with a few bombs or airplanes. But they have done an excellent job of nearly bankrupting it, in what, 5 years? In a way, it is an economic game, costing them a few recruits and costing the U.S. billions, or is it trillions? It's all just some ridiculous unimaginable sum now anyways. Stay the course. Don't want to look foolish now.
