Couple local pedal mashers have been running the 5K at Nite Moves on Wednesdays and have been going pretty fast! Not sure what running background, if any, M-Dubb has, but he cranked out a speedy 17:02 this week, good enough for 2nd place. Check out the picture on the right... his eyes are closed 'cause he's getting beat in a sprint by a 17-year-old! Or maybe the pain is just too great when there's no wheels to suck. Note the right-knee wound ...that's from our oily pile-up on the 101 last week.
Plc Finisher Age Time Pace
===============================
1 Conner Mellon 17 16:59 5:28
2 Matt Dubberley 26 17:02 5:29
3 Gene Deering 24 17:31 5:39
4 J. Ritterbeck 33 18:18 5:54
5 Barry Molony 56 18:24 5:56
6 Matthew Trost 39 18:40 6:01
7 Sergei Sushlic 14 18:44 6:02
8 Zach Komon 31 18:45 6:03
9 Sara Dillman 26 18:47 6:03
10 Brian Zant 27 18:57 6:06
And the week before, local hill-climbing ace Eric Forte ran a blazing 16:32! Eric ran in highschool and obviously hasn't lost much in the 22 years since.

2 Eric Forte 40 16:32 5:19
3 Paul Bryan 27 16:40 5:22
4 Lars Mininni 31 16:51 5:26
5 Stefan Zumsteg 21 17:25 5:37
6 Edward France 25 17:41 5:42
7 Martin Pattiso 42 18:05 5:50
8 Barry Molony 56 18:06 5:50
9 Shad Springer 34 18:21 5:55
10 Chris Hillyer 33 18:25 5:56
[add/edit] ...and then, the day I wrote this post, Eric raced the Vicky's 3000 (3 km) at the SBCC track. Here he is in the early laps leading the back half of the fast group. He would go on to pass all but two runners, and post a time of 9:21 which is a 5:02 mile pace!
Look for a 4:20-4:30 from Eric in the State Street Mile. That should be good enough to win the 40-49 age group race, and perhaps even the Masters overall.
Both the running photos above were lifted from DJ's site.

Holy crap, those are some fast running times! I used to do Nite Moves last summer/fall before I shipped the bikes out here. That course isn't easy either with the loong gradual ascent...
Yep, those guys are fast! Now if only they'll keep running--and not riding much--maybe they won't work us over so badly!
Eric just ran the Vicky's 3000 (a 3K on the track) and ran at a 5:00 min-per-mile pace! Maybe I'll add those results (and picture) to this post...
Nice "cyclist" tan lines on M-Dubb's legs ;-)
BTW, that Paul Bryan guy who finished 8s behind Eric is a young engineer at my work...really nice guy...and apparently fast, too!
