A Big Steaming Pile of...

Compost.

Rich, dark, and alive. You could say it's where everything begins and also where it all ends, but you'd be wrong 'cause there is no beginning or end.

Carbon and Nitrogen.

...moving from one living thing to the next...

Forever.

----
ps. Some people tell me they can't see videos on my blog. Can you view the video above? I hope to film some of the races at Ojai this weekend, but if nobody can see it here, what's the point??? Let me know.

I can see the video...I'd love to see some of the Garrett Lemire Memorial GP. It would be great to see a bit of the race story instead of imagining what went on by interpreting the results. Thanks,
JG

Anony- Is that an editorial comment on the video?! Hahaha... maybe you just didn't get the deep symbolism, the human drama and subtle character development, and of course the exquisite cinematography...

Jim- Any chance you're related to SoCal's Thomas Githens, that brute of a young talent who's been ripping people's legs off for the last two years?? If so, then I'll make you a deal... tell him to stay in the 2's for Ojai and then he can be the star of a movie I'll make. Otherwise, if he's finally upgraded, then he'll be the evil villain instead! (Just kidding of course...) Looking at the schedule, I should be able to get pics & vid of 35+, cat-2, and some cat-3 & Women p123.

Mark - I can see the vid, no problem. Browsing with Firefox (at work).

Mark - Yep, I'm related to Tom - he's my youngest son. I should probably stay away from making any deals though... But I do wish best of luck and safe races to everyone riding at Ojai this weekend. btw, I am comforted to know that I am not the only leg-rip victim out there. JG

Druber & Croykey- Thanks for the feedback re the video. Good to know it's not a widespread problem. I'll do my best to get some footage at Ojai. BTW Druber, will you be racing? I heard your bro will be hear and doing the 45+ so it'd be great if you were out too. Platinum should have at least four riders in there. You don't want Pops to be all alone against us, do you???

Jim- Wow! I don't know whether to congratulate you or curse you!! Just kidding of course. From what I've seen and heard, Tom is a great guy and a really talented rider. And let's do the math to see if you're all alone getting your legs ripped off... Tom and his partner-in-crime Anthony Aker started last year as Cat-5s and surely by now are Cat-1s after racing extensively in SoCal. So that means, what, they've raced against a couple thousand different riders?? You are definitely not alone!!

Marco, I see the video fine and now understand why you finally started riding mountain bikes. You are a thrill seeker, handling that compost without gloves. ;o)

Watched video no problem. Liked the text too. My wife will be starting her second try at a compost pile soon here. First one resembled yours but little.

Cool Githen's dad tuned in.

Marco - Yes, brother Mark has arrived to race at Isla Vista and Ojai. Sadly, I will not be joining him as planned. With a broken race bike, broken race wheels and a back in full spasm I haven't yet thrown my leg over a bike since the crash in San Dimas. I'm back to work, almost regularly, now. I was really looking forward to Ojai and racing with my brother too. Now I only get to look forward to massage and chiropractic adjustments in order to get my spine to go back to normal...

I see the video...what's the crying noise I'm hearing?

Marco Fanelli said...

Kevin- Those sounds are coming from my neighbor's chickes. Tract-house neighborhood, and he has a chicken coop! Personally I think it's really cool 'cause they get a great supply of top-quality eggs, unlike the poor-excuse for food we buy in the grocery store. I think everyone in America should read The Omnivore's Dilemma. What we eat in this country is outrageous. Sorry for the tangent...

Uh... that should have been "chickens"
