A drop of honey. I put it on the kitchen counter deliberately, just to see how long it would take before they discovered it. Every morning for the last couple weeks we find 20+ ants crawling around, or way more if we accidentally left a tiny crumb of food. Truly annoying, but also amazingly industrious. The other day I saw one dragging a piece of shredded Parmesan cheese that was like 10X the size of the ant!
So yeah... the ants found the honey drop in about five minutes. I let them drink for a bit while I took pictures ...then I smashed them and wiped it up. At least they died happy.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Ants?
